Can't recommend this inn highly enough.
We booked Room One (first floor, separate entrance, private deck, large bathroom, cozy bedroom) sight unseen, based on excellent reviews, a very good price, PARKING!!, bike rack, and rave reviews about the home baked breads, cookies, and scones that go with the generous, fresh, and beautiful breakfast spread.
Steve and Joe have made it a point to offer guests both private and communal spaces: you can eat inside with other guests at the dining room table or relax in the living room, or you can eat at tables for one or two out on the front deck, or do a little sunbathing and reading out on the common use patio.
Not only are you close to the main thoroughfare (and all the shops and restaurants)--you are perfectly located to take advantage of the Province Land bike trails that meander through the Cape Cod National Seashore Park from Herring Cove to Race Point. Check out the Pilgrim monument and the PTown library. Catch a film at the Waters Edge Cinema. Try Mexican food at Lorraines, and splurge at the Red Inn or the Mews.
Awesome and clean rooms and excellent homemade baked goods.
Before I get to the amenities, let me say that the Inn owners--Joe and Steve---make the Atlantic Light exceptional. Friendly without hovering, helpful without being pushy, knowledgeable without being insistent, our hosts gave us great tips about where to eat and what to see. I counted the days not by number or name, but by what kind of scone would be waiting for us each morning. Joe and Steve radiated a friendly and low key vibe that seemed to resonate with all the guests.
I have mixed feelings writing this review--I feel like I am blowing the cover off one of the best kept secrets in PTown. But this place is just too good to pass up--and too good not to recommend. If you are looking for a great place to stay in Provincetown, look no further. The Atlantic Light Inn will not disappoint.
Turns out the Atlantic Light Inn is less than a block from Commercial St, though you would never know it because the moment you turn off Commercial onto Pearl you step into a quiet residential area that feels a world away from the crowd and lights of mid August Provincetown.
Check with Steve and Joe, but each room seems to have its own collection of charm. We loved the private entrance and deck that goes with Room One, but from pictures it looks like other rooms have other special features: a fireplace, a deck, a skylight. Although the Inn was full during our five day stay, and we enjoyed breakfast and conversation with other guests, we also had plenty of privacy, to the point that it felt we were the only people there.
Steve is a tremendous host, great advice and a wizard at parking! Felt very welcome
